The MLPB Series Mini Limit Switches are a compact-format industrial position detection switch range designed for machine and automation applications where the installation space available for the limit switch is constrained by adjacent components, structural elements, or machine geometry that cannot accommodate a full-size limit switch body. Available in seven actuator variants, the MLPB mini series provides the same range of actuator geometry options as the full-size SLPB range in a significantly smaller housing footprint, enabling limit switch position detection to be incorporated in tight machine assemblies, compact automated systems, and precision equipment where every cubic centimetre of installation space has a competing claim.
The miniaturisation of the MLPB series relative to the standard SLPB series is achieved through compact housing design that reduces the overall switch envelope while maintaining the functional switching architecture — snap-action contact block, IEC 60947-5-1 compliance, and adequate IP protection — that industrial position detection applications demand. The reduced housing size comes without significant compromise in electrical performance, making the MLPB series functionally equivalent to its full-size counterpart for the signal-level switching duty of most PLC-input position detection applications.
The MLPB actuator variant range covers the key sensing geometries in compact format. The A2 and A3 variants provide roller lever actuation in two lever length options — A2 for tighter cam approaches where lever length must be minimised, A3 for standard reach where the cam approach distance requires more lever travel. The C1 and C2 variants offer roller push plunger configurations for direct contact actuation in the most compact installation positions. The L3 and L4 variants provide longer lever configurations for applications where the cam reach requires greater actuator arm length despite the compact housing. The E5 variant offers a coil spring actuator for gentle contact applications in confined spaces.
Mini limit switches are used extensively in robotic end effectors and tooling where weight and envelope are critical; in compact automated assembly machines where multiple switches must be clustered in a small machine section; in precision measurement and gauging equipment where switch size affects measurement accuracy; in medical device manufacturing equipment where machine compactness is a design requirement; and in any automation application where the full-size switch variant physically cannot be installed without compromising the machine design.
The MLPB series cap accessory — available separately — provides additional protection for specific applications where the actuator assembly needs physical guarding from the surrounding machine environment, enabling the mini switch to be adapted for installation positions that would otherwise expose the actuator to mechanical damage from adjacent machine elements.
