Adjustable Actuator Metal Limit Switches for Flexible Position Setting in Industrial Applications
Variants: MLASS3A1 · MLASS3B2 · MLASS3C4 · MLASS3C0
The MLAS Series Metal Limit Switches are an adjustable-actuator variant of the metal housing limit switch range, featuring actuator assemblies that allow the effective operating position of the switch to be adjusted during installation and commissioning — without relocating the switch mounting position — to fine-tune the sensing point to the exact position required by the machine's operational sequence. Available in four actuator variants, the MLAS series provides the installation adjustment flexibility that machine commissioning often requires when the as-built cam position does not precisely align with the nominal design position, or when process requirements change and the sensing position must be adjusted without mechanical intervention to the machine structure.
Adjustable actuator limit switches address a practical machine commissioning challenge that fixed-actuator switches cannot accommodate: the difference between the nominal cam and switch position in the design drawing and the actual position after the machine is built. Mechanical tolerances in fabrication, assembly, and component positioning mean that the actual cam arrival position at the switch actuator frequently differs from the design position by amounts that are significant enough to cause switching point errors — triggering too early or too late relative to the intended machine sequence timing. The MLAS series resolves this without requiring shimming, repositioning, or machining of the switch mount.
The MLAS actuator variants provide adjustment across the cam approach geometries relevant to metal housing applications. The A1 variant provides an adjustable roller lever for standard cam-operated sensing position adjustment. The B2 variant offers an adjustable fork roller for rod sensing position setting. The C4 variant provides an adjustable roller plunger configuration for direct depression applications with position fine-tuning. The C0 variant offers a bare plunger actuator for direct actuation in the most compact accessible configuration.
Position adjustment is achieved through the actuator's mechanical adjustment mechanism — a set screw or locking collar that fixes the actuator in the selected position after commissioning — providing a locked, repeatable operating point that does not drift under machine vibration or thermal cycling once the adjustment is secured. The adjustment range covers the displacement typical of machine fabrication tolerances, enabling the MLAS series to resolve the majority of as-built position discrepancies without mechanical correction.
