Stacked Contact Block Assembly for Multi-Function Elevator Push Button Switching

The Combo – Contact Block Stack is a multi-contact switching assembly formed by combining multiple contact block elements in a stacked configuration behind a single elevator push button actuator, providing two or more independent switching contacts from a single button actuation — enabling complex, multi-circuit switching logic from a single push button position without requiring multiple button positions or complex panel wiring to achieve equivalent functionality.

Multi-contact switching from a single push button is a requirement in numerous elevator control circuit applications. A floor selection button may need to simultaneously send a call signal to the elevator controller and activate a floor indicator light — two separate circuit operations from one button press. An emergency stop button must open multiple series-connected safety circuit branches simultaneously to ensure complete safety chain interruption. An inspection control button may need to activate both a movement command circuit and a status indicator circuit from a single actuation point. The contact block stack provides the multiple independent contacts needed for all of these multi-circuit functions from a single panel position.

The stack assembly is built from standard compatible contact block elements combined in the Combo configuration, with each element contributing one NO or NC contact pair to the stack. The mechanical engagement between elements ensures correct sequential actuation by the push button — with all contacts in the stack switching reliably and simultaneously at the defined actuation force and travel. The stack depth and element count can be configured to the specific contact number required by the elevator control circuit design.

Electrical isolation between the contact pairs in the stack is maintained to the standard appropriate for elevator control circuit voltage and current levels, ensuring that the independent circuit functions driven by each contact pair cannot electrically interfere with each other through the contact block assembly. This isolation is particularly important in mixed-voltage panel applications where signal-level and mains-level circuits may both require actuation from the same push button.
